Our Mission

We believe that outstanding choral performance has the power to cultivate kindness, joy, and compassion. Through thoughtful concert curation, an unwavering commitment to audience engagement, and collaboration with other impactful arts organizations, we aim to serve as a beacon of choral excellence in Southern California and beyond.

Our History

Laguna Beach Chamber Singers (LBCS) was founded in 2008 by conductor Christin Cornell. We started as a group of committed musicians rehearsing and performing in the living room of one of our members. We continued to grow and to attract quality singers, and in 2014, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, governed by a board of directors. We were later led by conductor Cory Winter, who brought us through a period of significant growth from 2016 to 2019. In 2019 the conductor baton was taken on by Music Director Victor De La Cruz who led us until 2023, assisted by assistant conductor Ashton Bocca-Hackwith. Our Artistic Director is Dr. Ryan R. Brown.

Originally we performed two concerts per year. Since that time, we have continued to grow in focus and quality, and to reach a larger audience. Based in Laguna Beach, LBCS is comprised of singers from Orange as well as Los Angeles counties. Our programs are as eclectic as our membership.
